Goetia, officially known as the Socialist Republic of Goetia (SRG) (Goetic: 𐍃𐍉𐌶𐌹𐌰𐌻𐌹𐍃𐍄𐌹𐍃𐍇𐌴 𐍂𐌴𐍀𐌿𐌱𐌻𐌹𐌺 𐍄𐌴𐌿𐍄𐍉𐌽𐌴𐌽𐌻𐌰𐌽𐌳 tr. Sozialistische Republik Goetschland) is a Communist state in Western Artemia that describes itself as a socialist worker's and peasants's state. It borders Ovancia to the north, X and Boaga to the east, Y to the west and Agrana y Griegro to the south. Socialist Goetia formed after the collapse of the Goetic Empire during the Grand Campaigns and Goetic Revolution, aided and abetted by the Crown Alliance led by Tiperyn. The war and the revolution are known in Goetic and other similar circles as the Krieg des Erwachens (Anglic: War of Awakening).
While Goetia's economy was highly centralized for the better part of the 20th century, the Volkskammer—Goetia's unicameral parliament—passed a series of bills in 2000 allowing deregulation of certain non-critical economic fields which has allowed these fields and related fields to expand. This has caused Goetia's economy to expand at a much healthier rate from 2001 to 2012. However, growth was ultimately stifled starting in 2013 due to a backpedaling on liberalizing policies, growing civil dissatisfaction, and the growing influence of far-right elements in the Goetic government.
Politically, the nation is officially a one-party state and as such is ruled by the Communist Party of Goetia (KPG). By law, other parties can be formed, but these have to be in a formal alliance with the KPT via the National Front of Goetia. Throughout most of its existence, the KPT controlled 125 of 400 seats in the Volkskammer, while the Christliche Sozialpartei (CSP) and other parties each filled 55 seats each. Although party seat positions are set by law, the growing influence and regional popular appeal of the far-right National Socialist Workers Party (NASAP) from 2010 onwards led to the cessation of 30 seats from the various parties to NASAP, giving it the second-largest representation. The growing power of NASAP, both in the Volkshammer and state ministries, is cited as a key factor that incited the Goetic War.

Politics[edit | edit source]
The ruling party of Goetia throughout its entire history as a communist state has been the Kommunistische Partei Goetschland, or KPG (Anglic: Communist Party of Goetia) ruling in alliance with several other non-communist parties such as the Christliche Sozialpartei (CSP) and more recently the far-right Nationalsozialistische Arbeiterpartei (NASAP) from 2010 onward. All secondary parties are subservient to the KPT and are forced to accept the leading role of the communist party in everyday Goetic politics. The parties nevertheless still receive some level of autonomy and representation in local politics. Many non-party organizations receive representation such as youth groups and trade unions, having reserved seats in the Volkskammer.
The Communist Party of Goetia has been active since the 1860s, particularly during and after the Goetic Revolution. The party is led by a central committee, which is elected via party congress every 5 years. The head of the party is the general secretary, which is the de-facto strongest figure in Goetic politics.
The political system followed by Goetia is Duvalism-Wagnerism, an ideology descended from Ovancian Duvalism, its theory founded by Goetic communist theorist and revolutionary Ottmar Wagner during the Goetic Revolution. Duvalism-Wagnerism stresses the need for a strong central government figure to ensure the success of the revolution, a state led by a vanguard of communist intellectuals and political figures that can safeguard the revolution and ensure ideological purity within the communist party. The ideology rejects the ideas shared by many Western Artemian leftists such as world revolution and permanent revolution as being necessary for the creation of a communist state. Still, Duvalism-Wagnerism is considered to be an internationalist ideology due to its consistent support of other communist revolutions and movements abroad across Anterra.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of a 2017 census, the population of Goeti was 125,657,028 people, the vast majority of which were ethnic Goetics. A large portion of the Goetic population was lost during the Goetic Revolution due to the high intensity of the fighting. Many people also emigrated from Goetia in the early consolidation period although the population drain was resolved in the 1930s and 40s. As the nation recovered from the revolutionary war, population growth skyrocketed and mortality rates plummeted, allowing the Goetic population to reach staggering numbers into the 1970s and 80s through what some considered a golden age. The growth stabilized in the 90s and 2000s as economic growth started to slowly decay.
Religion[edit | edit source]
In accordance with its communist principles, Goetia's government (as proclaimed by the KPG) is by law secular and also is an advocate of State atheism. However, a number of minority parties in its parliament are officially Christian in their theological allegiance. Additionally, in a study conducted in 2015, only 65% of the population self-described as atheist. Meanwhile, 27% identified as Goetic Protestant and 8% as Catholic. The two churches supported the revolution the 1920s, but became distanced in the 1930s into the 1950s, when dialogue and a warming of relations occurred.
Administrative districts[edit | edit source]
Military[edit | edit source]
Goetia has control over a very large number of military and paramilitary organizations through various organizations and ministries. Four legally authorized organizations exist that are allowed to maintain armed forces. These are the Ministry of the National Defense which contained the regular armed forces, the Ministry of the Interior which had the State Police and the Border Troops, the Ministry of State Security (known as the Stasi) which contain various intelligence gathering and security organizations along with the Walter Schellenberg Guards Regiment and other assorted commando battalions, and Combat Groups of the Working Class (KdA) which—while being apart of the Ministry of the Interior—answers directly to the Communist Party of Goetia.
Ministry of National Defense[edit | edit source]
The Ministry of National Defense (Goetic: Ministerium für Nationale Verteidigung (MNV)) is the organization responsible for the direct defense of Goetia against outside military threats. To achieve this goal, the MNV works in cooperation with the Ministry of State Security on more subversive threats against military targets while the Stasi is responsible for outside political threats and subversive actions.
The Armed Forces is called the National People's Army (Goetic: Nationale Volksarmee (NVA)) and os broken down into four primary branches:
- People's Army (Volksheer)
- People's War Navy (Volkskriegmarine)
- People's Air Force (Volksluftwaffe)
- People's Space Force (Volksweltraumwaffe)
Ministry of the Interior[edit | edit source]
The Ministry of the Interior (Goetic: Ministerium des Innern (MdI)) is responsible for the security of the borders and interior of Goetia. The Ministry of the Interior is also responsible for the training of the Combat Groups of the Working Class and is partly responsible for training and manning along with the party. The MdI has two branches under its command:
- People's Police (Volkspolizei)
- Border Troops (Grenztruppen)
Ministry of State Security[edit | edit source]
The Ministry of State Security (Goetic: Ministerium für Staatssicherheit (SSD)), commonly known as the Stasi, a shortened version of the alternative name for the SSD, the Staatssicherheitsdienst. The Stasi are the secret police of Goetia responsible for the safeguarding of the party, the revolution, and the state against all subversive actions taken against it by outside and internal agents.
It also contains the Walter Schellenberg Guards Regiment which is in charge of security of sensitive government facilities and also conducts plainclothes security at important party events. They are notably unpopular with the local populace due to their secretive nature. There are many claims of political killings, sabotage of foreign industry and technology, and industrial espionage by nations and watch-groups outside of Goetia that are pinned to the Stasi.
