Government of Selengeria
The Government of Selengeria, known by supporters as Ikhonichin and internationally by the metonym Kharmaivan, is the unique totalitarian political system of the Empire of Selengeria under the exclusive political leadership of the National Front. It is a unitary state ruled by a largely ceremonial and powerless emperor or Khaan. Administration of the country is carried out by the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, however, they are not independent of each other.
Monarchy[edit | edit source]
The Monarch of Selengeria (Khaan lit. "King of Kings") is the head of the Imperial Family and the sovereign and head of state of Selengeria. Despite nominally outranking the Jonon, the emperor takes little part in governing the country and primarily lives a cloistered life devoted to religious affairs.
The Imperial Family, known also as House Dasanjin or the Songosonids, descend from the deified founder of Selengeria, Songoson. Songoson was a minor Narangol chieftain who rose to prominence in the 16th century as both a prophet and warlord. He united the houses of the Alashan Plateau and led them on a conquest of surrounding peoples and states to found the modern Selengerian empire. Following his death, Songoson's cult continued to grow and eventually elevated him to a position of godhood. Because of this, the Imperial Family function similarly to the heads of other major religions. The emperor is believed to be semi-divine and the soul chosen to bridge the earthly and heavenly domains and ensure harmony.
The Current Emperor of Selengeria is Narmandakh. He was officially enthroned in 1996 following the death of his father Emperor Osolnegdel. He is styled as His Imperial Majesty for use internationally and domestically as Aguu Sur Javkhlan ("His Sublime Majesty") or as Divaajingerel ("Light of Heaven"). Selengerian monarchs take on new names upon assuming the throne and are given posthumous names upon their death. Narmandakh's regnal name is Soljinzayaa which means "Fortuned Crossroads of Fate" - an auspicious name chosen for his ascension approaching the turn of the century and amidst the emerging technological revolution.

The Khuraldai is the national legislature of Selengeria. With 2681 seats it is the largest legislative body in the world. It is made up of the chieftains of Selengeria's clans who are elected by the nobles of the houses.
While immensely powerful during the election of a Jonon, the Khuraldai rarely meets during the lifetime of a Jonon and is considered a rubber stamp body for the decrees and policies of the Kharmaivan.

The National Front for the Restoration of Heaven's Will, more commonly referred to as the National Front (Undesnii Khamdazog) or just "the Party" (Nam), is the official and solely authorised political party of Selengeria. It has an estimated 40 million members and dominates every aspect of Selengerian life and politics.
All Selengerians are required to participate in party institutions regardless of their membership status starting at the block-level cells known as "Neighbourhood Assistance Associations" (Khorshiin Tuslamjiin Niigem).
The National Front was founded in 1927 at the onset of the Selengerian Civil War by a coalition of anti-government forces under the leadership of Khiyad Suudaran. The party grew quickly and by 1929 its forces had emerged victorious against the liberal government of the Bindirigui Party.
Supporters of Suudrin and the National Front during Selengeria's civil war were called "Undserkheg" and the term has remained in use to the present day to refer to members of Selengeria's government and the party as a whole
Zovarga[edit | edit source]
Zovarga is the governing ideology of Selengeria as defined by traditional Narangol customs and the speeches, decrees, and writings of all Jonons.
