Bogd Zanabazar, better known by his birth name Suudaran, was a Selengerian general who led Undserkheg forces in overthrowing the Second Empire during the Selengerian Civil War and thereafter ruled as a dictator from 1927 to 1958, assuming the title Jonon.

Early life

Khiyad Chogjmaa Suudaran was born on 29 July 1877 in PLACEHOLDER to Lady Chogjmaa and Lord Jargalsaikhan of House Khiyad and was the eldest of four children. His parents, along with other members of House Khiyad, were exiled from Selengeria for their involvement in the doomed Nogoongar Revolution. After relocating to PLACEHOLDER, his parents opened a textile imports business that allowed them to maintain a measure of their former lifestyle. Suudaran was privately educated and trained for the first ten years of his life and was reported to be fluent in Narangol, Tipsprek, PLACEHOLDER, and PLACEHOLDER by the age of 10. A downswing in business forced his family to cut expenses and enrol Suudaran in a local academy. Records from his term at PLACEHOLDER school call Suudaran an "exceptionally precocious pupil", but also reveal pervasive racism from both his peers and instructors and likely related poor grades. Despite these difficulties, Suudaran graduated in 1954 and was able to use his mother's connections to gain admittance to PLACEHOLDER country's military academy.
